Families, romantic trip, girls trips, you name it, this town is perfect for getaways! There is so much to do in town and the surrounding areas - most anyone would be delighted. There are excellent lodging and dining choices for every appetite. On our “touristy” meter, this town is sneaking up there but has kept its authentic charm.

We did not find a strong incubator culture, but this is a popular area, and it is growing for reasons, proximity to Austin & San Antonio, that are not going away. We find the market dynamics to favor entrepreneurs but is dependent upon your niche.
Fredericksburg loves remote workers and digital nomads and has taken a vocal stance on attracting them. However, we did not find a depth of co-working spaces. An opportunity, perhaps?

This is known as a safe town with a great variety of housing options. There is so much to do and the neighborly grid design makes for getting around so easy. Most of the housing is within 1-mile radius of downtown. One draw back is the rising price of housing here. Many of the intown houses have been converted to short term rentals and have limited supply as well.
Fredericksburg beckons singles with its diverse eateries and meeting spots, perfect for visiting or settling down. The town's numerous festivals and events offer great opportunities to mingle and make connections. However, keep in mind, the rising cost of living could be a consideration. Also, it's noteworthy that a slightly higher percentage of residents are married compared to the national average.
Fredericksburg, gaining popularity since the 1980s, has become a sought-after retirement destination. With nearly 40% of its population being Boomers or older, this trend seems set to continue. The area's growing affluence and appeal make it especially attractive to those with substantial retirement savings.

How we look at demographics, other than education choices
We are looking at small towns everywhere and, so that our fellow small-town fans can really compare “apples to apples” as closely as possible, we use a 3-mile radius for most all of our demographics, 1 mile if we are talking specifically about what is within walking distance to the heart of town. Because when you are talking about who lives in a town - you don’t really care about who provides their water or where they pay their taxes.
